Demos Project
Démos (a music education and socially focused orchestra program) has been initiated and coordinated nationally by the Cité de la Musique – Philharmonie de Paris since 2010. To date, 11,000 children have benefited from the program.
The project gives children aged 7 to 12 the opportunity to learn to play an instrument and discover classical music as part of an orchestra over a three-year program, in areas where access to music education is limited for geographical, economic, or social reasons. It targets priority neighborhoods covered by urban policy (QPV) and rural revitalization areas (ZRR).
The project fosters social connections and a sense of collective experience through music education.
Fifty orchestras are spread across France. The project involves 300 local authorities, 300 social organizations, and 80 music institutions.
